A quick guide to café insurance

When you are running a business you are doing so with the intention to make as much money as possible; with the idea that you can earn a very good living by doing as little work as possible and making your business become very successful. A lot of people do this all of the time. When you think about it, if you work for someone, then they have done this exact thing themselves; they are making money when you are doing the work for them. This can be very easily done in cafés. Cafés often make a lot of money during busy periods of the day; depending on the placement and prices; which means that the owner can employ people to do most of the work for them. These people are called the employees, or staff, and need to be trained properly.

Training is very important in a café as there are foods prepared with sharp objects such as knives, and scalding hot liquids. If the proper training is not given, and the staff are unsure of what to do in the event of an accident; then more serious accidents can occur. And of course, where there is a blame, there is a claim. Café insurance is a necessity for anyone who wants to run their own business where they employ staff and allow the public into the service areas of their premises. Insurance is what stops you from getting high compensation payouts coming directly from your pocket; insurance is what pays for accidents.

There are two types of café insurance that you may need. These are public liability insurance and employers liability insurance. The first of these is what covers any member of the public who may come into the service specific areas of your café. This may simply be someone who wants to come in to buy a cup of coffee, or someone looking to have a sit down meal with some friends. When in a service area, it is often the case that very hot liquids and foods may be distributed around to other customers by members of staff; and if one of these members of staff was to drop something and accidentally scald one of the customers in the café; then they are liable to claim compensation from your business. As long as all of the correct training and procedures were followed, then the insurance is what will pay for this claim, and pay anything else that the member of public in question is liable to claim from you.

The other type of café insurance that you may need is the employers liability insurance. This is what covers any members of staff that you may employ from any potential accidents. However, this is only the case if they have received proper training and chose to ignore it. If they have been told to do something that they have not been trained to do then the insurance is not likely to cover this.
